Clientell MCP · Compared · October 13, 2026

What Clientell MCP does that Salesforce's hosted MCP does not.

Salesforce's hosted MCP servers are good for reading and updating records. Admin work is different. It needs metadata, flows and deploys, with a safe place to test first.

How we compared: as of October 2026, per Salesforce docs and third-party write-ups. We make Clientell AI, so we are not neutral. Confirm current terms on Salesforce's own docs. For the wider comparison, see Clientell MCP vs Salesforce Hosted MCP.

Three things to check

Edition, setup, and what the servers can touch.

01

Edition

As of October 2026, per Salesforce docs, hosted MCP is included with Enterprise Edition and above. Smaller editions are left out.

02

Setup

You activate a server in Setup and create an External Client App by hand, then set scopes. It is a task for an admin who knows OAuth.

03

Reach

The listed servers cover records, Data 360, Tableau Next and Marketing Engagement. We found no hosted server for the Metadata API or Tooling API, so no deploys and no flow changes.

What Clientell MCP adds

The admin side of Salesforce, from your AI client.

It can change metadata

Admin work is mostly metadata: fields, flows, validation rules, permission sets. Clientell MCP can build and deploy them. A record-only server cannot.

It works on flows

Ask it to read a flow, find what breaks it, or move an old Process Builder to Flow. Changes are tested in a sandbox first.

It asks before it writes

Clientell AI asks before it changes anything in production. You can roll back.

It knows how things connect

Before it changes a field, it checks which flows, reports and permissions use it.

When Salesforce Hosted MCP is the better pick

You are on Enterprise Edition, you only need record access, and you want a first-party server with no extra cost. It is a real product and it is quick to turn on. Many teams run both.

Common questions

Answers, before you try it.

Does Salesforce Hosted MCP need Enterprise Edition?

As of October 2026, per Salesforce docs, hosted MCP servers are included with Enterprise Edition and above. Check the current rule on Salesforce's own documentation before you plan around it.

Why does the setup need an External Client App?

Salesforce hosted servers use OAuth, and the docs have you create an External Client App in Setup for the client you connect. As of October 2026 this is a manual step. Clientell MCP uses a normal Salesforce sign-in, so you do not build the app yourself.

Can Salesforce Hosted MCP deploy metadata or edit flows?

As of October 2026, the servers Salesforce lists cover records, Data 360, Tableau Next and Marketing Engagement. We could not find a hosted server for the Metadata API or the Tooling API, which is what deploys and flow changes need. Check Salesforce's server reference for the latest list.

So should I use Salesforce Hosted MCP or Clientell MCP?

If you only need an AI client to read or update records, and you are on Enterprise Edition, Salesforce's servers are free and fast to start. If you want an AI client to do admin work, such as flows, metadata and deploys, Clientell MCP covers that. Many teams can use both.

Is it safe to let an MCP client change my org?

Clientell AI asks before it changes anything in production. Changes are built and tested in a sandbox, and there is auto-snapshot rollback. Clientell AI is SOC 2 Type II, HIPAA and GDPR compliant.

Which AI clients does it work with?

Any MCP client, including Claude, Cursor, VS Code and Codex. See the install page for the steps.
