Lightning Experience Explained
Lightning Experience (LEX) launched in 2015 as Salesforce's next-generation UI. It introduced a component-based architecture built on the Lightning Component Framework, replacing Classic's page-centric model. Key UI improvements include the Lightning App Builder for customizable page layouts, Kanban views for pipeline management, a redesigned report builder with instant chart previews, split views for simultaneous list and detail browsing, and a utility bar for persistent tools like notes, history, and Phone (CTI).
Lightning Experience supports features unavailable in Classic: Einstein AI features, Dynamic Forms and Dynamic Actions, in-app guidance (walkthroughs and prompts), enhanced list views with inline editing, and the Lightning Console for service and sales power users. Orgs that still use Classic can enable Lightning Experience for specific profiles via the Lightning Experience Migration Assistant, which provides a readiness report, feature comparison, and rollout tools. Some Visualforce pages and JavaScript buttons require modification to work in Lightning. Clientell AI is built for Lightning Experience and leverages its component architecture to deliver an integrated admin experience directly within your Salesforce org.
